Monument in front of the „Ion Luca Caragiale” National Theater in Bucharest

Bucharest has, for a while now, a new and interesting monument in Piata Universitatii, in front of the „Ion Luca Caragiale” National Theater. It is called „Căruţa cu paiaţe” roughly translated in „The cart with harlequin” and it is indeed a good idea of a monument given the place where it is placed and the art it celebrates.

The „Ion Luca Caragiale” National Theater went through a comprehensive restauration works which ended in 2015 – but the monument was placed here before the official relaunch of the theatre. It is a nice monument in my opinion – and it is lit at night (many monuments in Bucharest are, back in the days Bucharest was called the little Paris and yes, even today you can see the resemblance, especially in the lights you can see at night.)
