The Highest Bridge in the World: The Si Du River Bridge

I am not afraid of heights – I couldn’t have been given my job. I love to see cities and the amazing earth from high points, and I always used to go to the mountains and get the cable-car and admire cities from the highest point possible. However, I didn’t get to walk on the highest bridge in the world: The Si Du River Bridge (Siduhe Bridge).

Located in China, the Siduhe Bridge crosses the valley of the Sidu River near Yesanguan in Badong County of the Hubei Province and has a height of 496 m (1,627 ft) and a span of 900 m (2,950 ft). This bridge was open to traffic on November 15, 2009.

  1. My parents were in China when it was being built, it was an actual tourist attraction at the time – to see the building site.
