Christmas music is an essential part of the holiday season, from traditional Christmas carols to timeless festive songs played every year. Over time, everyone builds a personal Christmas playlist – songs that feel familiar, comforting, and deeply connected to memories.
In this article, I’m sharing my favourite Christmas carols and songs, a mix of classics, iconic performances, and a few personal discoveries that truly capture the magic of Christmas.
I love Christmas – I always did. And I also love Christmas carols! I am fortunate enough to know a few foreign languages, so I could understand several Christmas songs.
Out of the numerous carols out there, over the years I have my favourite Christmas carols and I am sharing them in this article.
A few of the songs included here are Christmas songs – not carols, but songs that are so popular that I am associating them with Christmas, and therefore I have included them on the list.
I presented you fun and interesting Christmas traditions across the globe and also told you what are the top travel trends for 2026. So now, without further ado, let’s see the list of the most wonderful Christmas carols.
My Favourite Christmas Carols: The Most Beautiful Christmas Songs to Listen to Every Year
It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year – Andy Williams
The first song on this list of most beautiful Christmas songs sets the tone: It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.
Christmas is indeed the most beautiful time of the year: not only because of the presents people get, but because we get to spend time with our family. And after Christmas, we have the New Year – a period with a lot of hope in our souls!
Santa Claus Is Coming to Town – Frank Sinatra
My favourite Christmas Carol is Frank Sinatra – Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
I didn’t know the video – saw it many years later – but ever since I heard the song – in this interpretation, not in another one – I fell in love with it.
When I was little, I loved snow. Then I had an issue with my knee and I cannot enjoy it as much. And in 2012 I had to have a knee surgery as a result of 2 slips on the ice…
However, I love the snow. Maybe from inside the house – not outside. It is beautiful! I love the mountains covered in snow, I love my garden in the snow… My dog loved snow too, and some of my cats loved it too…
Dean Martin – Let it Snow
…So it is no surprise that next on this list of favorite Christmas carols is one about… snow:D Dean Martin – Let it Snow
Shakin’ Stevens – Merry Christmas Everyone
Speaking of snow one of the Christmas songs I like to listen this time of the year is Shakin’ Stevens – Merry Christmas Everyone.
How can you not love it?
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – Perry Como
One Christmas song at a time we got to a point where we can say: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – Perry Como is my favourite version
Brenda Lee – Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree
And if we got to a Christmas atmosphere, let’s dance! It’s time to listen to Brenda Lee – Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree
Feliz Navidad – José Feliciano
Years ago I listened to a Christmas song in Spanish – and I liked it. I have heard it many times since – on the radio too – and I am including it on this list as well. So allow me to introduce you to Jose Feliciano – Feliz Navidad
Jingle Bells
Two other Christmas carols that need no introduction are: Jingle Bells
Silent Night (Bing Crosby)
and Silent Night (Bing Crosby)
Pentatonix – Here Comes Santa Claus
And yes, Santa is almost here! Pentatonix – Here Comes Santa Claus is another Christmas song that I like – in this version 🙂
Wham – Last Christmas
Speaking of Christmas songs – that are not Christmas carols – Wham – Last Christmas is definitely on my list. I loved it since I was a child. And yes, years later, I lived an exact story!
Magic Moments! (Perry Como)
Remember that this period is filled with Magic Moments! (Perry Como)
Santa Baby – by Eartha Kitt
Another Christmas song – I discovered this more recently – is Santa Baby – by Eartha Kitt.
BTW: I would like a convertible under the tree too. Red, not blue (but if blue is what you can bring me, I’ll accept it!)
Why Christmas Carols and Songs Matter So Much
Christmas carols and Christmas songs may seem similar, but they serve slightly different roles in how we experience the season. Traditional carols are rooted in history and faith, often passed down for generations, while Christmas songs reflect their era and capture the spirit of the time in which they were written.
Music has a unique ability to anchor memories – a familiar melody can instantly take us back to childhood, family gatherings, or a specific Christmas moment. Certain versions of songs stay with us because of a voice, an arrangement, or the first time we heard them during a meaningful period of our lives.
Over time, these songs become part of our personal Christmas traditions, creating a bridge between generations and reminding us that, while times change, the feeling of Christmas often remains the same.
Carol of the Bells – Libera
Last on this article is a Christmas carol I discovered last year – and I have to say that I like it in this form, sung by these amazing children: Carol of the Bells. It really sounds like bells announcing the birth of Jesus – wonderful arrangement and a jolly carol.
I hope you like this selection of Christmas carols and favourite Christmas songs!
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas – Michael Bublé
So, as the title says, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas 🙂
We wish you a Merry Christmas!
Whether you prefer traditional Christmas carols or modern holiday songs, music has a way of bringing us together every December. These are the Christmas songs I return to year after year – and I hope at least one of them becomes part of your own holiday tradition.
