I was listening to music on YouTube the other day and letting it choose the next song automatically. After a while, I realized it had played several hits from the 2010s. They were very familiar, and some even brought back memories I hadn’t thought about in years.

That made me think about everything else the decade gave us. The 2010s brought major films, addictive apps, songs that seemed to play everywhere, strange internet debates, viral challenges, scientific discoveries and plenty of moments that already feel nostalgic.

I already have trivia quizzes covering the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, so I wanted to complete the series with 200 2010s trivia questions and answers arranged from easy to expert. And I have many interesting trivia articles – about travel, holidays, countries, and more! 

The questions cover events from January 1, 2010, through December 31, 2019. You’ll find music, movies, television, internet culture, technology, gaming, sports, science and major events from around the world.

How to Play This 2010s Trivia Quiz

The quiz has four rounds of 50 questions. The easy round starts with some of the decade’s most recognizable moments. The medium questions require more specific knowledge, while the hard and expert rounds include details that many people may have forgotten.

Give yourself one point for every correct answer. Write down your score after each round, then add the four results together at the end.

If you’re hosting a game, read the question aloud and pause before revealing the answer. The categories are mixed throughout each round, so players won’t face a long block of questions about a subject they don’t follow.

I also checked the complete list to avoid repeated answers, reverse questions and questions that test the same fact in slightly different ways.

Every question in this quiz is restricted to events that occurred from January 1, 2010, through December 31, 2019.

I removed questions in which a film was released during the decade but the award or event being tested occurred in 2020. I also removed repeated answers, reverse questions and different questions that relied on the same central fact.

Awards and nominations were checked against Academy Awards and Recording Academy records, while the Pulitzer Prize database was used for the Kendrick Lamar question.

Space and science questions were checked against NASA, ISRO and Event Horizon Telescope material.

Technology launch and acquisition dates were checked against company announcements and regulatory filings where available.

Major sports results were checked against FIFA, Olympic and NBA records, and the Paris Agreement date was checked against the UNFCCC.

Conclusion

The 2010s don’t feel very distant to me. Still, creating this quiz reminded me how quickly apps disappear, online trends are replaced and once-constant songs stop playing everywhere.

The decade gave us major changes in how we watched television, listened to music, communicated and spent time online. It also produced plenty of strange moments – from debates about the color of a dress to a public campaign to name a ship Boaty McBoatface.
