Christmas has been my favorite holiday for as long as I can remember. As a child, I loved decorating the Christmas tree, and we still have some precious old Christmas decorations that mean a lot to me. I loved the carols and, of course, I loved the gifts. As I grew up, I started enjoying buying gifts and giving them just as much, along with everything else that comes with Christmas: the atmosphere, the decorations, the music, and time spent with family.
I’ve already created Thanksgiving trivia and Halloween trivia, so it was time for Christmas to have its own big challenge too. These 200 Christmas trivia questions and answers increase in difficulty from easy to medium to hard, covering traditions, decorations, movies, food, history, Santa, celebrations around the world, and plenty of Christmas music.
You can go through all 200 questions yourself, use them for a family Christmas trivia game, or choose a mixture for a party or work quiz. The answers appear directly after each question, and I’ve avoided repeating the same fact later in a different form. Keep track of your score if you want to see where you are after Question 200. I can promise you this. If you go until the end of the trivia, you will discover you know the answers to many of the questions from the last part of this Christmas quiz! I hope you enjoy playing as much as I enjoyed creating it.

How Did You Do? Christmas Trivia Score Guide
If you played all 200 Christmas trivia questions and answers from easy to hard, it’s time to see where your score lands. The final questions are tougher, but there are still recognizable movies, songs and traditions mixed into the hard section, so reaching a high score shouldn’t depend on memorizing obscure facts.
0–49 correct — Christmas Warm-Up: You picked up plenty of new Christmas facts along the way, and quite a few should be much easier next time.
50–89 correct — You Know the Classics: Familiar movies, songs and traditions helped you build a solid score.
90–129 correct — Strong Christmas Knowledge: You did well across several categories rather than relying on one favorite subject.
130–159 correct — Christmas Trivia Expert: History, international customs and the more detailed entertainment questions didn’t catch you out very often.
160–184 correct — Seriously Impressive: A score this high takes broad Christmas knowledge and a very good memory.
185–199 correct — Christmas Trivia Master: Very little in this 200-question Christmas quiz managed to surprise you.
200 correct — Perfect Score: If you managed all 200 without looking anything up, you should probably be writing the questions at the next Christmas trivia night.
How to Use These Christmas Trivia Questions for a Game
You don’t need to use all 200 questions in one sitting. For Christmas party trivia questions, a family game or Christmas trivia questions for work, choosing a mixture from the three difficulty levels usually works better than taking every question from one section.
A Quick 10-Question Christmas Trivia Round
For a short game, choose four easy questions, four medium questions and two hard ones. Mix the categories rather than taking ten consecutive questions: a movie, a song, a tradition, food and a history question will give different people a chance to contribute.
A 20-Question Family Christmas Game
For a family game, seven easy questions, nine medium questions and four hard ones make a useful balance. Recognizable Christmas movies, Santa, music and food can balance the harder history and international material, so adults don’t answer everything while younger players watch.
A Full Christmas Trivia Night
For a longer party, 40 to 60 questions give you room for several rounds. You might start with general Christmas knowledge, follow with movies and music, move into traditions around the world and finish with a harder mixed round. The same format works for office parties, and readers in the UK or Australia looking for Christmas quiz questions and answers can use the page the same way.
If your gathering continues into New Year’s Eve, some of my New Year’s traditions around the world are almost ready-made conversation starters for the next celebration.
Conclusion
As I’ve grown older, one of the things I enjoy most about Christmas is buying gifts and finding something I think another person will genuinely like. I still love the tree, the carols, the decorations, the time with family and that feeling December has when Christmas is getting closer. Even going out to see the Christmas lights in Bucharest can put me in the holiday mood.
Creating 200 questions gave me room to include the familiar side of Christmas and plenty that requires a little more thought. I wanted the easy questions to feel easy without being ridiculous, the medium ones to be the part where you keep thinking “I know this,” and the hard round to challenge you without making you wonder who could possibly know any of the answers.
Christmas isn’t the only holiday I’ve turned into a quiz. My Valentine’s Day trivia takes on a completely different set of traditions and history, while the Christmas season itself has enough material for many more questions in the future.
Christmas Trivia Questions and Answers FAQ
If you’re using the questions for a party, family gathering or Christmas quiz rather than playing through the full article, these quick answers can help you choose the right difficulty and number of questions. The complete trivia collection has many more topics when you want another round.
What are some good Christmas trivia questions for adults?
Good Christmas trivia questions for adults mix familiar subjects with facts that require real recall. Movies, music, history, food, traditions and Christmas celebrations around the world work well because different people usually know different categories. Questions 61–200 in this set are the best place to start if you want medium and hard Christmas trivia rather than a very easy warm-up.
What are good family Christmas trivia questions and answers?
A family game works well when different generations have a chance to contribute. Recognizable Christmas movies and songs, Santa traditions, festive food and well-known customs are useful categories. Questions 1–60 here are accessible without making every answer something a very young child could guess immediately.
What makes a hard Christmas trivia question fair?
A fair hard question asks about something a well-informed person could plausibly know: a meaningful historical first, a famous Christmas custom, a deeper detail from a well-known film or a music fact connected with a familiar song. A random statistic or an obscure name that almost nobody has encountered may be difficult, but it usually isn’t much fun to play.
How many Christmas trivia questions should I use for one game?
Ten questions are enough for a quick round, while 20 to 30 work well for a family gathering or short party game. For a longer trivia event, 40 to 60 questions allow several rounds and a gradual increase in difficulty. You can also play all 200 as one continuous challenge.
Can I use these Christmas trivia questions for work?
Yes. For a workplace game, I’d use mostly easy and medium questions with a smaller number of hard ones at the end. A set of 20 to 30 drawn from movies, music, general Christmas knowledge and international traditions gives people different subjects to contribute to without making the game too long.
What are the best Christmas trivia categories?
Christmas movies, music and carols, history, Santa and other traditions, food and drink, literature and Christmas customs around the world all work well. Mixing categories is usually more entertaining than making the entire game depend on one subject, especially when several generations or groups of colleagues are playing together.
How These Christmas Trivia Questions Were Fact-Checked
Christmas trivia has a problem: the same origin story can appear on dozens of websites even when the historical evidence behind it is weak. I didn’t treat another trivia list as proof simply because the same answer appeared repeatedly online. Historical claims and traditions were checked against museums, official cultural organizations, government sources and other authoritative references wherever possible.
For example, the Smithsonian documents Edward H. Johnson’s electrically illuminated Christmas tree, while the Victoria and Albert Museum covers Henry Cole and the first commercial Christmas card. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts records the colony’s 1659 Christmas law and five-shilling fine.
International customs were checked against sources including Visit Wales for Mari Lwyd, Visit Gävle for the Gävle Goat and ThisisFINLAND for the Finnish Christmas sauna and Turku’s Declaration of Christmas Peace.
I also checked the 200 questions against one another, not only for identical wording but for repeated facts. A fact used as an answer earlier in the quiz wasn’t deliberately turned around and reused later as another trivia question.
