Some questions should be easy if you have spent enough Halloweens digging through a candy haul. Others go beyond simply recognizing a Snickers, Kit Kat or Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Do you know why Milk Duds are called “Duds”? What the little strip of paper in a Hershey’s Kiss is called? Or which candy became part of movie history thanks to E.T.?

If you want a broader challenge after this one, try my interactive Halloween quiz, with questions covering traditions, folklore, candy, books and movies. For a much bigger trivia round, there are also 200 Halloween trivia questions and answers.

How Did You Do on the Halloween Candy Quiz?

Some of those were easy. If you have ever eaten a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup or broken apart a Kit Kat, you had a few points waiting for you. But candy gets surprisingly strange once you start looking beyond what is printed on the front of the wrapper.

A candy once marketed as Chicken Feed became a Halloween classic. A famous chocolate bar took its name from a family horse. Milk Duds owe their name to a manufacturing problem, while the tiny paper strip sticking out of a Hershey’s Kiss has its own official name. Even the familiar candies we have seen for years can hide some very odd stories.
