What do you do when you like Would You Rather games and Thanksgiving? Besides playing them, I also love creating games like this, so here’s a new one from me to you: 150 Thanksgiving Would You Rather questions for family dinners, Friendsgiving, kids, teens, adults, and anyone who can’t resist choosing between two options.

I already shared my Thanksgiving trivia questions for those who want a proper quiz with correct answers, and my Thanksgiving conversation starters for evenings when you want to get people talking. This game sits somewhere in between. You don’t need to know a fact, but you do have to make a choice – and sometimes explain it to everyone who completely disagrees with you.

I included questions from different parts of Thanksgiving 🙂 There are easy choices, Thanksgiving food dilemmas, funny questions, family and Friendsgiving situations, holiday travel, questions for kids and teens, clean questions for adults, and much harder decisions toward the end.

How to Play Thanksgiving Would You Rather

Thanksgiving Would You Rather is a no-prep conversation game. One person reads a question aloud, everyone chooses between the two options, and anyone who wants to can explain the choice. There are no correct answers, and you don’t need to keep score.

For a smaller table, go around and let everyone answer. With a large group, ask everybody to vote at the same time by holding up one finger for the first choice and two for the second. It prevents the first answer from deciding the entire room and usually makes the split more interesting.

You can move faster by giving everyone five seconds to choose. If a question creates a real debate, forget the timer and let the conversation continue. Anyone can pass, and explaining an answer is optional. Thanksgiving icebreaker questions work best when people enjoy answering them :).

Thanksgiving Would You Rather Questions for the Whole Family

I’m starting with Thanksgiving Would You Rather questions for the whole family because mixed-age gatherings need choices children can understand without making adults feel like they’re playing a preschool game. The final ten are meant to be difficult enough that people pause before answering. These hardest Thanksgiving Would You Rather questions move past simple preferences and into time, people, memories, effort, and the things that make a holiday worth remembering. I saved some of my favorite dilemmas for this section rather than letting the list fade out near Question 150.

142. Would you rather know you’ll have one Thanksgiving in your life that feels absolutely perfect or know that every Thanksgiving ahead will be good without any single one being perfect?

What Makes a Good Thanksgiving Would You Rather Question?

A good Thanksgiving Would You Rather question needs two options that both have a reasonable chance of being chosen. If one option sounds wonderful and the other sounds terrible, people can answer, but there isn’t much left to discuss.

The question should make sense immediately too. Players shouldn’t need trivia knowledge or a long explanation before they can decide. Easy questions can still offer a real choice, while hard questions become difficult because both alternatives have advantages and drawbacks.

I also wanted variety across this list. Changing turkey to stuffing doesn’t create a genuinely different question when the underlying dilemma stays the same. That’s why the 150 questions move through food, family, funny situations, Thanksgiving Day activities, travel, Friendsgiving, hosting, money, memories, time, and harder trade-offs rather than repeating one formula with different nouns.

How to Keep Thanksgiving Would You Rather Fun With Kids and Adults Together

A mixed-age table doesn’t need complicated rules. Start with the easier family questions, let everybody vote at the same time, and make explanations optional. A child can answer in two seconds while an adult turns the same question into a five-minute discussion about gravy, airport traffic, or exactly when Christmas decorations are allowed to appear.

Don’t rush to the next number if one question starts a good conversation. If Question 37 keeps the table talking for ten minutes, stay there. The point isn’t to complete all 150.

You can also change the pace throughout the day. Use five quick Thanksgiving Would You Rather questions while people wait for dinner, come back with funny questions after the meal, and save the harder choices for later in the evening.

Conclusion

What I like about Would You Rather is how quickly a simple choice can turn into a much longer conversation. Someone chooses an answer, another person immediately disagrees, and five minutes later you’re hearing a story that had nothing to do with the original question.

You don’t need to reach Question 150 on Thanksgiving night. Pick ten, choose thirty, or continue until everyone decides they’d rather eat another piece of pie. If one question sends the conversation somewhere fun, keep going.
