Who doesn’t like a nice Christmas movie? I’ve watched so many over the years, and on a funny note, one of our TV stations even ran a whole series of Christmas-in-July movies this summer. Apparently, December isn’t the only time people want a little Christmas on screen – and I’m guessing there are plenty of Christmas movie fans out there!
When I created my Christmas trivia questions and answers, I included some movie questions too. But there were so many films, characters, scenes and details I had to leave out that a separate movie challenge started to make a lot more sense. So here it is: 200 Christmas movie trivia questions and answers dedicated entirely to holiday films and a few beloved TV specials that have become part of Christmas viewing for generations.
The questions move from easy to medium and then hard. Use them for a Christmas trivia night, a family game, a holiday party, or work through all 200 yourself. Give yourself one point for every correct answer and keep your score until the end. If movies are your strongest trivia category, you can continue later with the much broader movie trivia questions and answers.
They may even put you in vacation mode before the holidays begin. Above all, have fun!

How the Christmas Movie Trivia Difficulty Works
The easy round focuses on familiar characters, major scenes, and details from movies many people rewatch every December. The medium Christmas movie trivia questions require more specific recall but should still feel accessible if you’ve actually seen the films. The hard round goes deeper into story details, actors, movie history, music, and production facts without relying on random credits or impossible statistics.
You don’t need to use every question for a game. If you’re playing all 200, however, keep one point for each correct answer because a score guide waits after Question 200.

How Did You Do? Christmas Movie Trivia Score
If you gave yourself one point for every correct answer, it’s finally time to see where you landed. The Christmas movie trivia questions became progressively harder, so even reaching the later score bands means you remembered much more than the biggest characters and storylines.
0-49 points: Christmas Movie Starter. You recognized some of the big favorites, and you’ve collected plenty of new movie details for your next Christmas rewatch.
50-89 points: Holiday Movie Regular. The major classics are familiar, and you picked up a respectable number of points once the questions became more specific.
90-129 points: December Rewatcher. You clearly know your Christmas movies, and the medium round probably gave you plenty of answers without too much trouble.
130-159 points: Christmas Movie Buff. Supporting characters, smaller scenes and movie details didn’t catch you out very often.
160-184 points: Holiday Screen Expert. You know the famous films and a surprising number of deeper details too.
185-199 points: Christmas Movie Master. Missing only a handful out of 200 is seriously impressive.
200 points: Perfect Christmas Movie Score. If you got every question right without looking anything up, you should probably be in charge of the next Christmas movie trivia night.
How to Use These Christmas Movie Trivia Questions for a Game
You don’t need to use all 200 questions every time. For Christmas movie trivia at a party, family gathering, office event or game night, choose a mixture from the three difficulty levels so casual viewers can collect points while stronger players still get a challenge.
A Quick 10-Question Christmas Movie Round
For a short Christmas movie quiz, choose four easy questions, four medium questions and two hard questions. Taking them from different movies works better than choosing several consecutive questions about the same title.
A 20-Question Family Christmas Movie Game
For family Christmas movie trivia, seven easy questions, nine medium questions and four hard questions create a useful balance. Choose movies the people in your group are likely to know and leave out titles that don’t fit the ages playing.
A Full Christmas Movie Trivia Night
For a longer Christmas movie trivia night, 40 to 60 questions gives you enough material for several rounds. Start with familiar titles, increase the difficulty gradually and save several questions from 191-200 for the last round.
If your group likes movie-specific games, a round of Halloween movie trivia questions can give you another themed challenge later in the year. And once Christmas has passed, the same easy-to-hard game format continues with these New Year trivia questions and answers.

A 200-question Christmas movie quiz can become repetitive very quickly, especially when the same handful of movies appears in almost every online trivia collection. I wanted a broader mix without filling the hard round with films hardly anyone has seen.
The biggest American Christmas movie favorites therefore appear throughout the page, alongside older classics, animation, romantic comedies, British favorites and selected newer streaming films. TV specials such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman and A Charlie Brown Christmas are included in small numbers because they’ve become part of annual Christmas viewing for many families even though they weren’t theatrical feature films.
I checked the complete 200-question set against itself as well. The same trivia fact isn’t deliberately repeated in another form, and an answer from an earlier question isn’t simply turned around and reused later as a new question. Every answer in the finished 200-question set is unique.
Movie versions are identified when a remake could change the answer. Production, award and movie-history facts were cross-checked with authoritative film sources, studio material and Academy Awards records where applicable. I also avoided changing box-office records, current streaming availability and other details that could make an evergreen quiz outdated unnecessarily.
Last fact-checked: September 2026.
Conclusion
Christmas movies have a funny way of becoming part of the holiday itself. You may not remember every character or small plot detail during the rest of the year, but a familiar scene, song or line can suddenly bring the whole movie back once December arrives.
That’s why the movie questions in my general Christmas quiz ended up turning into a full 200-question collection of their own. There was simply too much fun material to leave out. I hope you enjoyed making it all the way from the easy round to the final question – and perhaps discovered a few movies you want to rewatch along the way.
If the films have already put you in the mood for the season, you can take the Christmas atmosphere off the screen with some of the best Christmas markets in Europe. The world’s unusual Christmas traditions provide plenty of surprises too.
For an actual winter trip, these Christmas destinations and places to spend the holidays can provide inspiration. And if a Christmas market is already on the calendar, checking what to take to a Christmas market can save you from discovering too late that cold feet and freezing hands aren’t nearly as festive as they look in the movies.
And if someone you know insists they never forget a Christmas movie detail, send them the quiz and compare scores.
Christmas Movie Trivia Questions and Answers FAQ
These quick answers cover some of the practical questions people have when choosing Christmas movie trivia for adults, families and party games. They can also help if you want to create a shorter Christmas movie quiz from the 200 questions above.
What are good Christmas movie trivia questions for adults?
Good Christmas movie trivia questions for adults mix recognizable films with details that require actual recall. Supporting characters, settings, memorable props, actors, songs and smaller plot moments create a stronger quiz than asking only for movie titles or filling the game with obscure production credits.
What are good easy Christmas movie trivia questions for families?
Easy family Christmas movie trivia works best when the questions focus on familiar characters, destinations, gifts, animals, relationships and major plot moments from movies the group knows. Easy shouldn’t mean that the answer is hidden in the question. Players should still have to remember something.
What makes a hard Christmas movie trivia question fair?
A fair hard Christmas movie trivia question usually asks for a deeper detail from a recognizable film. A source book, specific prop, supporting character, memorable song, actor or important production fact can be difficult without becoming random. A tiny crew credit from an unfamiliar film may be hard, but it doesn’t make the game more enjoyable.
How many Christmas movie trivia questions do you need for a party?
Ten questions are enough for a very quick game, while 20 to 30 work well for a casual party. For a full Christmas movie trivia night, 40 to 60 questions allow several rounds and a gradual increase in difficulty without requiring everyone to play all 200.
Which movies work best for Christmas movie trivia?
A strong Christmas movie trivia game usually includes familiar titles such as Home Alone, Elf, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, The Santa Clause, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Polar Express, It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street and Love Actually. Adding animation, romantic comedies, older classics and selected newer movies gives more people a chance to know something.
Can kids and adults play the same Christmas movie trivia game?
Yes. Choose most questions from familiar family films and the easy or medium sections, then add a few harder questions for adults. The biggest factor isn’t age so much as which movies everyone has actually watched.
Why are Christmas TV specials included in Christmas movie trivia?
Several television specials have been annual Christmas viewing for decades, so people commonly include Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman and A Charlie Brown Christmas in holiday movie nights even though they weren’t theatrical feature films. Keeping them to a limited number adds familiar Christmas favorites without changing the main focus of the quiz.
