200 Medical Drama TV Trivia Questions and Answers: Grey’s Anatomy, House, ER & More

I love TV series with doctors. I’ve watched almost all the big ones, although I definitely didn’t watch all of them when everyone else did.

Just this summer, I finally finished ER. It was added to Netflix here, and I took full advantage of it. I couldn’t properly follow the series when it originally aired because I was still in school, so I ended up binge-watching it decades later instead. If ER instantly brings the decade back for you too, my 90s trivia has plenty more memories waiting.

M*A*S*H was another late discovery for me. When I got Disney+, it was actually the first series I watched there. Again, I was simply too young to watch it properly when it originally aired. And last year I binge-watched House again on Netflix, while still watching newer medical series as they came along.

Then I checked when Grey’s Anatomy first premiered and discovered something I’ll probably never forget. It debuted on March 27, 2005 – three days before I met the man who would become my husband and about a month before I launched my own company. Suddenly, Grey’s Anatomy had a date attached to my own life too. Anyone who remembers that period especially well can continue later with my 2000s trivia.

So yes, it was time for a dedicated collection of medical drama TV trivia questions and answers.

I wanted this to be fun even if you haven’t memorized every episode. The first questions are genuinely accessible, the middle rounds ask a little more – but it is still friendly and accessible! -, and the final questions are harder without becoming a collection of patient names from episodes most people watched once 15 years ago.

The shows are mixed throughout on purpose. You won’t get 20 House questions in a row or suddenly face a huge The Resident section if you’ve never watched it. You never know which fictional hospital you’re heading to next 🙂

Chicago Med, The Pitt, New Amsterdam & More Modern Medical Drama Trivia

The next round gives newer shows more room, so you’ll find Chicago Med trivia questions, The Pitt trivia questions and New Amsterdam trivia questions mixed with older favorites. The Resident and The Good Doctor are here too, along with enough House, ER and Grey’s Anatomy to stop the section from feeling like a completely different quiz.

A lot of these shows belong to the 2010s, which now feels slightly alarming when I stop and count the years. My 2010s trivia covers much more than television if you want to see how much of that decade stayed in your memory.

New Amsterdam also gave me one of those strange moments when a fictional story sent me looking for something real. An episode introduced me to oppositional defiant disorder, and some of what was described reminded me of behavior a friend had been struggling to understand in her son. I mentioned the term to her. She later sought professional advice, and ADHD was eventually part of what was identified. A TV episode obviously isn’t a diagnosis, but sometimes it gives you a term or a question you didn’t know to ask.

The series is set in New York City, but the next 40 questions are going to move much farther than one fictional hospital.

Medical Drama Characters, Relationships and Iconic Moments

A good medical drama quiz isn’t only about hospital names and specialties. Some of the best TV doctors trivia questions for adults come from the friendships, romances, rivalries and character details that made people care about the shows in the first place.

I’ve also learned things because these series made me curious enough to check what I’d heard. One House episode sent me searching for research about red hair and anesthesia. A Johns Hopkins study I found reported a higher anesthetic requirement in the small group of natural redheaded women studied. I didn’t just take the TV line as fact — I wanted to see what the research actually said.

If the real body is more interesting to you than the fictional cases, my human body trivia stays with anatomy and physiology, while the larger science trivia goes much wider.

The Ultimate TV Doctor Mashup

The last 15 medical TV show trivia night questions are deliberately unpredictable. They jump between classic and modern series, creators, hospital history, actors and character details rather than building toward one enormous superfan question nobody can answer.

There’s even a musical connection before the end, which seems appropriate considering how much television and music overlap. If theme songs and famous tracks are easier for you than doctors, the music trivia gives you 300 completely different questions after this.

How Did You Do?

If you made it all the way to Question 200 without giving up when one of your weaker shows appeared, you’ve already done better than someone who simply skipped every hospital they didn’t recognize.

0–59 correct: Intern.
You know the most famous TV doctors, but your fictional-hospital watchlist still has room to grow.

60–99 correct: Resident.
You’ve clearly spent a lot of evenings at Grey Sloan, County General and their television counterparts.

100–139 correct: Attending.
You know your medical dramas well and can move between several decades without completely losing track of the staff.

140–174 correct: Chief of Surgery.
You remember character relationships, hospital history and details that many viewers forgot a long time ago.

175–200 correct: Medical Drama Legend.
From the 4077th to the Pitt, very little in fictional medicine escapes you. House would probably still find something to argue about.

If you want to see whether that knowledge extends beyond television, my general knowledge quiz changes subject constantly, so there’s nowhere for a single specialty to carry your score.

Conclusion

Putting these 200 medical drama trivia questions together reminded me how different these shows actually are. M*A*S*H doesn’t feel like ER. ER doesn’t feel like House. House doesn’t feel like New Amsterdam, and The Pitt has its own rhythm again.

Yet I can watch all of them.

Some are tied to the period when I first saw them. Others, like ER and M*A*S*H, became discoveries years after they originally aired. And sometimes an episode makes me curious enough to go and check whether something I heard has any basis in real medicine.

That combination is probably why I never seem to run out of doctor series to watch.

And because so many of these fictional hospitals are tied to real American cities, you can switch completely from TV to travel with my U.S. travel trivia and see whether you know the actual country as well as its fictional hospitals.

Medical Drama Trivia Questions: What Readers May Want to Know

What TV shows are included in this medical drama trivia quiz?

The 200 questions cover Grey’s Anatomy, House, ER, Chicago Med, The Pitt, The Good Doctor, M*A*S*H, The Resident, New Amsterdam, Private Practice and Scrubs. A smaller number of questions also feature Brilliant Minds, Nurse Jackie, St. Elsewhere, Code Black, The Knick, Doogie Howser, M.D. and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.

Are these medical drama trivia questions suitable for casual viewers?

Yes. The first rounds focus on recognizable characters, actors, hospitals, relationships and story details. The questions become more challenging later, but they don’t depend on memorizing episode numbers or one-off patients.

Can these questions be used for a medical drama trivia night?

Yes. You can use all 200 for a long game or select questions from different parts of the article for shorter rounds. Because the shows are mixed throughout, a group where different people watched different medical dramas should still have plenty of chances to score.

Are these questions about real medicine or medical TV shows?

They test knowledge of medical television — the characters, actors, fictional hospitals, relationships, storylines and selected production facts. You don’t need medical training to answer them. If you want actual anatomy and physiology questions instead, the human body quiz is the better place to go.
